Making Coffee-in-Bed Even Better

Small shelf, big convenience.

I love figuring out upgrades for my Teardrop camper, both major and minor. And something else I love is morning coffee. Especially in bed, looking out at the landscape of wherever I happen to be.

Serene as it all sounds for starting one’s day, I never had any convenient place to set down my coffee mug. The storage drawer over the foot of the bed has a cover so it can be extended to function as a table. But that would mean leaning forward an entire 2 or 3 feet to place and retrieve the mug.

I heard that moan of ridicule. Yes, it is deserved. No, it does not dissuade or discourage me. You see, this is part of what Teardrop trailer life is about… tinkering, improving and fine-tuning, making the minimalist tiny camper trailer experience just a tiny bit decadent here and there.

So, off I went, found a scrap of finished wood, a remnant of piano hinge, and made a lovely little tilt-up shelf in the perfect spot for setting down my cup of java without any undue delay or extra effort. Okay, I feel the world is flowing as it should now 😉

And there’s more ways than just this to improve your Teardrop camper coffee experience.

So, that’s how I do things with my Teardrop Trailer but by no means the full story or the best way. What about you? Add your own methods, ideas and experiences using the comment box below for the benefit of all readers.
