I thought it would be interesting to look back at a year’s worth of usage statistics since I launched first week of March last year to see which Teardrop camper topics were most popular. Not that this little blog is necessarily broadly representative of Teardrop trailer owners (and wannabe Teardrop owners) but there was a distinct “Top 5” topics which stood out above the rest (# views):
- Electrical System Overview (426)
- Teardrop Trailer Ventilation (291)
- Choosing a Cooler for a Teardrop Trailer (144)
- Teardropping with a Dog (142)
- Teardrop Trailer Shelter Selection (136)
The next closest topics, by number of views, were the bedroom (sleeper cabin), the galley, and toiletting, all in the low 90s.
Now, of course, this is hardly scientific. For one thing, since I had created core content for the blog to launch with, some entries have been there from the start (i.e., a full year) while other blog entries were added as the year progressed. For another thing, we’re not dealing with large numbers here!
I started this blog with the goal of creating the kind of source for Teardropping advice and experience that would have been most useful to me when considering purchasing a Teardrop and during my first camping season as a newbie Teardrop owner. And to do so in a noncommercial way that didn’t endorse or plug products.
I was quite aware this style of blog is pretty “old school” when the online world is filled with videos, “influencers”, sponsored content, and all manner of things & people sparkling for our attention, on every imaginable topic including Teardrop trailer living. What’s more, the scope here is a bit niche since it is mainly focused on the smaller/minimal classic type of Teardrop trailer more so than the larger & cushier Teardrops that cost mucho $$, and with a mildly Canadian perspective on Teardrop trailer life.
This blog is nothing other than a fun project by a guy who really enjoys heading off with his dog in the car and the little trailer behind it (I loooove that Teardropping with your dog was in the Top 5!). And if it has been helpful or interesting to you in the past year I am so pleased! Stay tuned, lots more content to come, and we’ll look again this time next year at what’s been most popular. And do please pass along the blog to anyone who may be interested… I’m not on social media myself but you are quite welcome to share it on yours.
One more factoid from the past year, top countries from which this blog is accessed:
- Canada – 56%
- U.S.A. – 38%
- Australia 3%
BTW, if you like “old school” online resources like this blog, which harken back to a simpler (and gentler) online world, you’re probably also going to enjoy tearjerkers.net an online forum… like what existed before Facebook… dedicated to all things Teardrop, and even with regional chapters (and in-person gatherings) across the U.S. and Canada!
